News: ATOS YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITORS HIT THE TRIFECTA!

NYTOS Awards Dan Minervini Scholarship, Concert Date

At the just-concluded ATOS Annual Convention, attendees were treated to one of the best Young Theatre Organist Competition performances ever, as all three candidates performed brilliantly.

Detroit native Justin LaVoie was named the winner, and in addition to his ATOS awards, was provided a $1,000 award by the Garden State chapter.

Today, the New York chapter (NYTOS) announced a $500 award to Dan Minervini aimed at assisting his continuing theatre organ studies. In addition, NYTOS has offered Minervini a full concert opportunity on the renovated, spectacular 4-manual Wurlitzer at LIU, the former Brooklyn Paramount.

When GSTOS President Mike Cippoletti chatted with ATOS President Ken Double about their added award for Justin LaVoie, Mike commented that perhaps their actions would spur other chapters to step up. Indeed, it did, once again confirming our chapters’ support of theatre organ music, and encouraging our young players to continue their studies.

Congratulations to all three…and ATOS expresses its gratitude to the chapter leadership at Garden State, Central Florida, and New York chapters for their generosity and vision.
