3/17 Wurlitzer - Oroville State Theatre
Organ
Location
Organ is Wurlitzer 3/17, formerly the Mendenhal Memorial organ from the Sierra Chapter, ATOS. Some parts of the organ date to 1914, although the console is from the St Louis Lowes theatre. It combines chests and pipes from opus 716, and the console is from opus 846.
During installation a larger scale 16' Tibia and 16' Wood diaphones were added, along with a set of tuned sleigh bells. It was first played for the public on April 2008 with only 7 ranks operating (since the original organ was a 2/6 Model D, this was actually more organ than the theatre had originally). Installation is now complete with the dedication concert scheduled for July 3, 2021.
Photos are available on the Theatre's Facebook page, as well as recordings of the organ playing.
