Shanklin Music Hall and ATOS Partnership
It is with great excitement that we announce that the Shanklin Music Hall will become the permanent headquarters for the American Theatre Organ Society, providing a venue for education, concerts, workshops, and a home to the ATOS archives. Over the next few years, the Shanklin Music Hall Foundation will be working with the ATOS to facilitate this transition.
ATOS is extremely grateful to the Shanklin family for this wonderful opportunity. Garrett and Sarah Shanklin’s mission from the very beginning was to restore an irreplaceable instrument, to preserve the sounds made by real pipes and percussion instruments, and to present it so that it could be enjoyed and shared by many. In 1996, Garrett designed and built the Shanklin Music Hall, where he installed a faithfully restored 4-manual, 34-rank Wurlitzer, crowned with the console from the Boston Metropolitan Theater. Here, thousands of people have been thrilled with the wonderful sounds of the Mighty Wurlitzer Theater Pipe Organ through concerts, silent motion pictures, celebrations, and special events.
Molly & Norm Shanklin will be part of the evolution as mentors and ambassadors, and their foresight will ensure the continued success of both organizations.
