This Christmas Special was recorded by a local TV station using three cameras on December 23, 1983. It was aired that same evening. The sound is monaural and heavily compressed. In some places you can hear the compressor working in time with pedal notes. Keeping in mind most people in 1983 had table model TV sets with one relatively small six inch speaker, heavy pipe organ bass is easily distorted. Jonas thinned out many registrations by eliminating stops with lots of fundamental pitch, such as 16’ Tibias and Diaphones.
